Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
The Intern, Cybersecurity will support the Security team in monitoring systems, identifying potential threats, and assisting with vulnerability assessments. This role offers hands-on experience in risk management, compliance, and security awareness while contributing to strengthening Seaspan's overall cybersecurity posture.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 899 Harbourside, North Vancouver.
What you'll do

  • Assist with Security Monitoring: Monitor internal security systems and identify potential threats, working under the supervision of senior cybersecurity staff.
  • Assist Vulnerability Assessments: Help with scanning, identifying, and mitigating vulnerabilities across internal and external systems.
  • Security Awareness: Help with security training initiatives to educate our colleagues on the current and future cyber threat landscape.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Assist in security risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Help update and maintain security documentation, including incident reports, security policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Security Team: Participate in team meetings, share insights, and contribute to ongoing security projects.
What you'll bring
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network security, and data protection.
  • Familiarity with tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.
Start Date of Internship: Monday, January 12th, 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday, August 28th, 2026 (8-Months).
