The successful candidate will become part of our design team and develop preliminary drawings and rough sketches, prepare design drawings, research innovative building solutions while exploring advanced building systems.
Core Responsibilities
Design & Documentation
- Collaborate with design teams to develop and detail design concepts into construction documents
- Coordinate technical information, building products, and provincial code requirements with internal and external teams
- Produce high-quality, well-coordinated drawing packages for all project phases
- Stay current with applicable codes, bylaws, industry trends, and drafting/design best practices
Project Coordination
- Work under the guidance of senior architects to support project design, development, and delivery
- Participate in client meetings, stakeholder sessions, and project reviews
- Assist in providing architectural support and direction to staff, clients, consultants, and applicable contractors
- Support contract administration services including site visits, change orders, and compliance monitoring
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure documents and drawings meet design, intent, building codes, bylaws, and internal quality standards
-Attend client and subconsultant meetings, as well as site visits during construction
- Identify and recommend solutions for design or compliance issues
- Participate in architectural inspections and resolve non-compliance issues, as needed
Client Care & Communication
- Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction
- Contribute to project discussions, problem-solving, and planning
- Present ideas and solutions clearly, visually, verbally, and in writing
What You Bring
Education & Registration
- University degree in Architecture from a recognized institution
- Registration or eligibility for registration, as an Intern Architect with the AAA
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an architectural firm
- Strong proficiency in Revit, with experience in SketchUp, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and other related design software
- Understanding of building systems, codes, technical detailing, and construction documentation
- Experience in a range of project types (commercial, seniors living, industrial, etc.)
- Excellent team working, organization, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate across disciplines
- Passionate about design, detail-oriented, and adaptable to project needs
