McElhanney is looking for a Transportation Project Manager to join our growing team in Calgary. In this role, you will apply your technical capabilities and leadership to civil transportation infrastructure projects - from concept through construction. Working with experienced and multidisciplinary teams, you'll keep projects on track and aligned with client goals. You'll play a central role in managing design and construction delivery, supporting business development, and mentoring junior staff.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of transportation engineering projects, from proposal development, scoping, and budgeting through detailed design, implementation, and closeout. Effectively communicate technical concepts to clients, contractors, and project partners.
  • Develop and actively manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to meet or exceed performance, quality, and delivery benchmarks.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across offices and disciplines, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Prepare and oversee comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, financial reports, progress updates, and contractual deliverables.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, leveraging your network and credibility with the City of Calgary and other Alberta municipalities to drive project success and future opportunities.
  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities and supporting proposal preparation.
What You'll Bring
  • Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), Professional Technologist (P.Tech).
  • 7-15 years of experience in civil infrastructure, ideally combining both field and office based consulting roles.
  • Direct project experience with the City of Calgary is strongly preferred; experience with surrounding and other urban municipalities is also valuable.
  • Proven track record in:
  • Managing urban and semi-urban transportation projects (e.g., interchanges, streetscapes, bridges).
  • Overseeing detailed design ensuring technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with client and regulatory standards.
  • Managing construction delivery, including tender preparation, contract administration and site coordination.
  • Leading proposal development and delivering impactful client presentations.
  • Navigating third-party coordination (utilities, developers, adjacent projects).
  • Field experience, including materials testing, site inspections, and construction oversight.
  • Project controls and reporting, including invoicing, change orders, progress reporting, and budget tracking
  • Valid (or in progress) Class 5 driver's license.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $175,000 per year.
