Intermediate/senior Contract Administrator – Water/wastewater

Job Description

We are currently hiring an Intermediate/Senior Contract Administrator to join our Field Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with a minimum of 7 years of contract administration experience in water and wastewater construction projects, including both linear infrastructure (sewers, watermains, road restorations) and vertical facilities (pumping stations, treatment plants).



The ideal candidate will bring a strong multi-disciplinary construction background, a deep understanding of consultant responsibilities, and the ability to lead inspection teams while coordinating with designers and support personnel.



This role is based out of our Guelph, Mississauga, or Hamilton offices, with regular field involvement.


What You'll Be Doing





As an Intermediate Contract Administrator, you'll oversee the administrative aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and supporting project delivery from tender through completion.


What Success Looks Like in This Role




Administer contracts between owners and contractors in accordance with contract terms. Coordinate and track submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs. Prepare and issue site instructions (SIs) and requests for quotations (RFQs). Liaise with clients, contractors, designers, and operations personnel. Organize and lead project progress meetings and issue minutes. Review contractor invoices and assist with payment certification. Assess and negotiate change requests and claims. Coordinate specialist inspections by subconsultants or specialist inspectors. Provide constructability feedback during design phases. Maintain accurate project documentation and as-built records.

Key Responsibilities




Administer construction contracts and ensure compliance with specifications. Respond to RFIs and manage submittal reviews. Coordinate with subconsultants and inspection agencies. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues. Support tendering and contract award processes. Review and verify contractor payment applications. Assist with change management and dispute resolution. Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and traffic control plans. Support evening/weekend work as required by project schedules.

What You Bring




Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or education in a related discipline. Minimum 7 years of experience in sewer and watermain construction inspection. Strong understanding of trenching safety, traffic control, and restoration practices. Familiarity with building codes, standards and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook. Ability to interpret contract documents and engineering drawings. Solid knowledge of construction materials, methods, and scheduling. Understanding of OHSA and construction regulations. Excellent organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills. Valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle.
