Job Description

We are currently hiring an Intermediate/Senior Construction Inspector to join our Field Services team, with a focus on vertical water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with at least 7 years of inspection experience in water and wastewater facility construction.



The ideal candidate will have a solid multi-disciplinary construction background, a thorough understanding of consultant responsibilities, and the ability to work independently while effectively supporting project teams.



This role is primarily field based, with flexibility to work out of our Orangeville, Mississauga, Barrie, or Newmarket offices depending on project needs and personal preference.


What You'll Be Doing





As an Intermediate Construction Inspector, you'll oversee the construction of vertical water and wastewater facilities such as treatment plants, pumping stations, and reservoirs. You'll ensure compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and environmental regulations while maintaining clear communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.


What Success Looks Like in This Role




Conduct thorough on-site inspections of water and wastewater facility construction. Ensure contractor adherence to safety, traffic control, and environmental protocols. Maintain detailed project records, including daily reports and as-built documentation. Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, facility operations personnel, and municipal authorities. Support contract administration, including payment verification, change order review, and meeting documentation. Coordinate with specialist inspection agencies (e.g., geotechnical, disinfection, welding, ESA, TSSA). Mentor junior inspection staff and contribute to team development. Demonstrate professionalism and empathy when addressing construction-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities




Perform daily site inspections to verify conformance with drawings and specifications. Prepare and issue detailed inspection reports and project documentation. Monitor contractor schedules and track progress against baseline plans. Review contractor invoices and assist with payment certification. Attend construction meetings and prepare minutes. Assist with tender and contract document preparation. Provide constructability feedback during design phases. Support evening/weekend inspections as required by project schedules. Liaise with governing authorities and coordinate with clients and contractors. Review and assess contractor change requests and claims.

What You Bring




Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or education in a related discipline. Minimum 7 years of experience in civil construction and water/wastewater facility inspection. Familiarity with water/wastewater treatment processes and facility operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook. Ability to interpret contract documents and engineering drawings. Solid knowledge of construction materials, methods, and scheduling. Understanding of OHSA and construction regulations. Excellent organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills. Valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle.
