Key Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Utilize internal and external data resources to perform risk analysis for quoting.
  • Negotiate and authorize acceptance of moderate to high complexity risks, with a focus on new business production and product development.
  • Participate in broker and underwriting meetings, as well as presentations.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships, attending seminars and networking events as required.
  • Negotiate coverage and pricing with brokers according to company guidelines.
  • Provide clear and prompt communication for requests and inquiries.
  • Manage and grow a book of business.
  • Adhere to corporate guidelines and delegated authority parameters.
  • Maintain accurate records of decisions made in compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Prepare loss reports and conduct post-claim underwriting reviews.
  • Mentor underwriting staff, providing guidance on underwriting theory, technical skills, and soft skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of related industry experience.
  • CIP designation or actively pursuing it.
  • Level I or II broker license, or the ability to qualify for one.
  • Experience in construction liability.
  • Advanced understanding and practical application of commercial underwriting theory.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong selling and negotiation skills, and the ability to drive revenue growth.
  • Commitment to delivering timely and exceptional customer experiences.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and detail-oriented approach.
