About the role




We’re looking for a Personal Lines Underwriter to join our growing team! As an Underwriter in our Personal Lines department, your work will have a big impact on the on the success of our business. You will be responsible for underwriting insurance risks and making decisions everyday that contribute to profitable growth. You will be customer-focused in everything you do, educating the broker and looking for ways to grow a profitable book of business while enhancing the customer experience. This opportunity is based in our Calgary or Edmonton, AB office. Here are a few ways you will make a difference:

  • Strong emphasis on building relationships with Brokers and supporting broker development.
  • Analyze insurance submissions and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Focus on building relationships while underwriting and rating policies.
  • Strong leadership skills, mentoring and coaching employees.
  • Provides technical advice and recommendations to brokers
  • Make recommendations to improve efficiencies.





Qualifications




What you bring to the table:
  • Minimum of 2 year of Personal Lines experience required.
  • Legendary sales and customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with brokers.
  • Strong negotiating skills and business savvy.
  • Excellent computer skills. Agility to navigate through multiple systems.
  • Adapt to changes in the workplace positively.
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Self driven and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Completion or commitment to achieve Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • University degree/college diploma or equivalent work experience.
