Job Description

CBCL is seeking an

Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Engineer

to join our Industrial Engineering team based in either Fredericton, or Saint John, NB, or Halifax, NS!

As our ideal candidate you have hands-on industry experience in project engineering or technical roles, or as a consultant designing industrial mechanical systems. This includes expertise in process fluid systems, stress analysis, petrochemical storage and transfer, storage tanks, compressed gas systems, boilers, power plants, or other industrial systems. You are a motivated self-starter, eager to work with an established team of professional engineers and technologists to develop innovative, multidisciplinary design solutions--always with a focus on client satisfaction and best-in-class design practices.

Your Key Responsibilities:




Support or lead design projects for industry, manufacturing, energy transitions, fuel storage, natural gas, pipelines, power plants, and boiler systems, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and client satisfaction; Serve as Project Manager on multi-discipline initiatives, overseeing scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables; Provide technical direction, peer review, and mentorship to design support staff across multiple disciplines, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment; Liaise with clients, guiding design decisions and ensuring alignment with project requirements and expectations; Contribute to business development and proposal preparation, supporting strategic growth objectives; Oversee construction administration and perform field reviews to ensure designs are implemented effectively; Plan, document, and lead commissioning and start-up activities to ensure operational readiness; and Prepare high-quality technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and client use.



Your Capabilities and Credentials:




A degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, with registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with provincial Engineering Associations; Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design of mechanical systems or direct industry project experience; Additional professional accreditations would be an asset; Familiarity in the design of mechanical systems using AutoCAD Plant3D and solid modelling packages (Solidworks, Inventor); Detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude; Performs well under pressure to meet deadlines; Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; and Valid driver's license and be able to travel to job sites within Atlantic Canada.
