Job Description

Blumara Corp. is a Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Services company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We provide a range of design, engineering, and project management services for the Naval and Commercial Marine sectors. Blumara has been involved in a number of vessel design and build projects ranging from small commercial boats to large warships and beyond.

Blumara are seeking an Intermediate Technologist to support the development of 3D models and engineering drawings for both new navy vessel designs and refit of existing vessels. The successful candidate will contribute to design packages, production drawings, and integration models, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models for ship structures, outfitting, and systems using industry-standard software. Develop 2D engineering drawings from 3D models for use in design reviews, production, and certification packages. Support integration of new systems into existing vessels through modelling and drafting activities. Assist engineers and naval architects with design iterations, updates, and drawing revisions. Perform quality checks on drawings and models to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. Contribute to design documentation and data management within project workflows. Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and shipyards to resolve design and drafting issues. Keep up to date with CAD software developments and ship design standards. Contribute to a collaborative, safe, and effective work environment.

Skills and Capabilities:



Diploma in Engineering Technology or equivalent qualification. 3-5 years of experience in 3D modelling and drafting, preferably in marine or shipbuilding projects. Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Rhino, SolidWorks, or equivalent). Strong understanding of engineering drawings, standards, and drafting practices. Familiarity with ship structures, outfitting, or marine systems is an asset. Experience working on naval or DND projects is desirable. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain the relevant Security Clearances and Controlled Goods Approval before commencing employment with Blumara Corp.
