Hi, I’m Arron Gibson, and I'm the Technical Director at Versett! We are looking for an Intermediate Product Engineer to join our growing Technical team who will be critical in helping us continue to push our capabilities to deliver amazing work to our wide array of clientele.
You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we embark on a period of high growth, so you are someone who isn’t afraid to take on a challenge, dig into hard problems and think of creative and innovative ideas to help Versett on our mission to Unlock Human Ambition. You will be responsible for producing accessible, performant and well documented code either with or without the use of frameworks and systems such as NextJS, React, WordPress, or Drupal.
We’re looking for a developer who can craft beautiful experiences and is interested in contributing to cutting-edge codebases and solving interesting problems. You have a deep understanding of how modern applications should be built and maintained. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, teammates, and clients to plan and develop new applications and establish a holistic point of view on the what, why, and how of building solutions.

We are looking for a Product Engineer to join our team in our Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto offices.

The Opportunity

• Collaborate with and support your team to build products that you feel genuinely proud of.
• Work on a multi-disciplinary team in a highly collaborative environment with diverse perspectives and expertise.
• Apply strategic thinking and execution skills throughout the entire product lifecycle, keeping an eye on opportunities to step in and step up.
• Participate in development team reviews, sharing, and brainstorms.
• Inspire those around you, embrace challenges and nurture a healthy culture of curiosity in how we approach development problems.
• Develop React and other JS, HTML, CSS front end experiences.
• Empower clients with best-practice WordPress or Drupal development and solutions
• Create FE forward applications using headless CMS-driven websites such as StoryBlok or Contentful.
• Work with teams to deliver projects and communicate risks and opportunities for delivery.

What you bring to the table

• You have 2+ years of development experience at a digital product agency or consultancy
• You have well honed communication skills, and the ability to deliver compelling development rationales in both client and internal contexts.
• You have a portfolio that reflects your strengths in technical problem-solving.
• You have the ability to move quickly, inspire buy-in, and proven strategic problem-solving skills.
• You showcase technical ability & expertise, specifically in the implementation of development processes throughout a project lifecycle.
• You are familiar with component-based design and working on and within design systems.
• You translate project goals, user research, and user flows into simple solutions.
• You’re optimistic about development and its ability to affect positive change. Your energy is contagious and brings the best out of the team around you.
• You stay ahead of desktop and mobile best practices and trends in web, mobile and iOS development.
• You are motivated by feedback and by the opportunity to improve in your role, in the work, and in how you work together as a team.
• You participate in peer reviews of code and have experience collaborating on a codebase using git.
• You have launched projects with teams and as an individual contributor.

The Interview Process: Step 1: Telephone pre-screen Step 2: 1 hour technical / behavioral interview with 2-3 peers from technology team Step 3: 30-minute present a project interview with 2-3 peers from technology team Step 4: Conduct References. Step 5: Offer.
