Company:

Carbon Lock Tech is a Manitoba-based cleantech startup focused on addressing climate change through carbon dioxide removal and sequestration. The company is currently developing a patented pyrolytic reactor technology for converting biomass and organic matter into stable forms of biocarbon that can be sequestered or "locked" into a range of valuable applications. The company is also focusing its engineering work on developing the next version of the reactor and the setting up of a commercial-demonstration facility.

Responsibilities:

Hands-on operation of equipment that pyrolyzes biomass, with associated subsystems for liquid/gas separation, combustion, heat transfer and cooling. Analysis, reporting and interpretation of operational data to improve processing and identify key parameters for commercial scale-up. Process design for our entire pyrolytic process. Selection and sizing of valving, instruments, material conveyance, gas/liquid separations, thermal energy supply, thermal systems, drying, pelletizing and size reduction of biomass. Adherence to safety and its integration into process designs and operations Work closely with other engineers on fast moving projects, as well as the research team acquiring information for design and modeling. Other hands-on duties as assigned.

Required skills and qualifications:

Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, process or chemical engineering from a Canadian recognized university that satisfies the above responsibilities.

Registered as a Professional Engineer, or working towards designation.

[REQUIRED]

3-5 years experience preferably in pyrolysis, gasification, thermal conversion technologies or relevant oil and gas industries. Strong understanding of fundamental process engineering and ability to carryout sizing calculations without relying on modeling software. Experience scaling up "hard tech" from the laboratory to commercial scale, or some stage in-between. Experience working in a start-up environment or small company with the ability to pivot as needed, utilize "out of the box thinking" and the determination to solve any problem. Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision and demonstrate strong competencies as a self learner and team player. Strong data analysis, reporting and communication (written/verbal) required Experience and comfort using tools and working with their hands. Adhere to safety norms, and ability to wear personal protective equipment as required. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and working on multiple different tasks

Pay: $75,000.00-$82,000.00 per year
