Intermediate Pipeline Engineer/Technologist



Gas Liquids Engineering (GLE) is a well-established, privately-owned engineering firm providing EPCM services to the energy industry, including project management, engineering, drafting and design, procurement, construction management and regulatory services.

We are currently seeking an experienced Intermediate Pipeline Engineer/Technologist to join our team and contribute to a variety of innovative and challenging projects across natural gas, oil, fractionation, carbon sequestration, hydrogen generation, power generation, and transmission.

As a member of our project team your responsibilities, will include, but are not limited to:

Manage and design activities on small and medium sized pipeline projects. Assist in preparation of studies, specifications, and other project documentation. Contribute to execution of multiple small to large sized projects, interfacing with other disciplines to ensure successful project completion. Lead the design development of wellsites, small gas processing, pipeline risers, LACTs, carbon sequestration, and transmission projects. Manage and support the development of technical project deliverables and drawings such as DBMs, P&IDs, PFDs and equipment layouts across multiple engineering disciplines. Ensure project objectives and deliverables are met within the defined deadlines and budgets. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project team members, and suppliers. Coordinate and share information between engineering and drafting teams. Expedite drawings and deliverables. Attend and provide input in internal team and technical discussion meetings. Participate in the project design and layout development. Prepare progress reports, tracking progress, technical reports, meeting minutes, and other project documents. Assist with the selection, specification, and sourcing of materials such as pipe, and fittings. Review and evaluate technical bids for materials, equipment and services. Develop and manage project schedules, detailed project cost estimates, with and without the support of a dedicated project scheduler and estimator. Collaborate with Project Managers and Business Development teams to develop project proposals.

Requirements



Bachelor's degree in engineering or diploma in engineering technology. P.Eng. or C.E.T. designation in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulatory body, e.g. APEGA, ASET, EGBC, ASTTBC, APEGS, or EGMB. Registered as a PE in the United States or having taken and passed the FE exam is considered an asset. A minimum of 2 years of EPCM or applicable Project Management and/or Engineering experience. Familiarity with CSA Z662, ASME B31.4 and B31.8, ASME pressure vessel codes (BPVC), pressure piping codes (ASME B31.3) and federal/provincial pipeline acts is preferred. Experience with pipeline modelling, stress analysis and GIS systems is an asset. Experience in creating alignment sheets is considered an asset. Prior experience with projects involving pipelines, acid gas/CO2 injection, water injection, wellsite facilities, Lease Automatic Custody Transfer packages, and booster compression/pumping. Prior experience on offshore pipeline design is considered an asset. Knowledge of pipeline systems including steady state hydraulic, dynamic hydraulics, cathodic protection, overpressure protection, leak detection systems is preferred. Understanding of project controls systems, project change management, project procurement systems and procedures. Familiarity with the regulatory processes in Western Canada. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication (written and verbal), and technical skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, flexible environment. Occasional travel to facilities may be required.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
