Intermediate Mechanical Engineer - Fredericton or Saint John, NB

Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is looking for a highly motivated intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in our Fredericton or Saint John, NB office. In this position, you will be a part of our solid multidisciplinary team, deployed worldwide, and working on stimulating projects that you will be proud to be a part of.

Hatch is growing throughout the country and we are expanding our presence in New Brunswick in order to better serve our local clients and to respond to increased demand from national and international clients. The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in the growth of our New Brunswick offices and shall assist with delivering a variety of diverse and challenging projects. Although tasks may vary from project to project, the primary role of the intermediate mechanical engineer shall be the management and design of large industrial projects. We manage the entire lifecycle of our clients\' projects, from conceptual design to construction and operation of assets, while achieving efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on complex and challenging projects locally as well as with national and international Hatch teams
  • Coordination with engineers and technicians amongst other disciplines
  • Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria
  • Prepare engineering calculations
  • Provide input to 3D models and 2D drawings
  • Review and evaluate technical work prepared by other engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists
  • Supervision and support of Engineers-in-Training
  • Conduct interface management between related systems
  • Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports
  • Stamp documents and drawings
  • Provide input to operating and capital cost estimates
Qualifications and Experience
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the design and management of mechanical systems
  • BSc/BEng in mechanical engineering.
  • Member in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB)
  • Ability to function with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate activities between disciplines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Safety awareness
  • Communication skills in French is considered an asset but not required.
