Intermediate Mechanical Engineer

We are a Calgary based full discipline Industrial Engineering & General Contracting firm leading a wide range of industries in facility engineering, design, and construction for conventional fuels, renewable fuels, renewable energy, sulphur, transportation, and fertilizer. Our team is looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer who is driven to further their career in a fast paced, dynamic workplace, and is looking to further their career. An important part of this role is working with a multidisciplinary team that possess the ability to communicate effectively with people of all backgrounds. This role requires a strong attention to detail and a natural ability to solve problems using both theoretical and practical engineering concepts. You will work alongside a talented team of experienced professionals in the Engineering and Design team. Educating the project team and effectively communicating your designs and design basis' is a key part of this role.

The team is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, however we provide exceptional engineering services to companies located worldwide.

Requirements and Expectations:

The successful candidate must present the following characteristics:

Ability to assess urgency and prioritize tasks accordingly Strong problem-solving abilities using both theoretical and practical engineering principals Notable attention to detail Effectively communicate information both verbally and written among multiple disciplines on a project team Ability to build successful relationships with project teams with strong interpersonal skills Exceptional time management and organizational skills Proven ability to take responsibility for a variety of tasks and see them through to completion Understands the impacts of decisions made today and how they affect the results you get tomorrow Takes initiative and drives tasks to completion Is an excellent listener and willing to ask questions to confirm a complete understanding when things aren't clear Strives to exceed expectations Takes responsibility of project deliverables, including authenticating designs and drawings Ability to design specialty components and systems High degree of due diligence
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Sizing mechanical equipment including pumps, boilers, turbines, etc., as well as basic process work including line sizing, PSV sizing, etc. Use existing company templates, tools, and resources to operate day-to-day activities Keep management up to date on status of initiatives and working tasks Lead a team of engineers and designers to a successful project outcome Encourage value creation initiatives Actively participate in and support internal and external development and training activities Acquire and review vendor and subcontractor quotes and drawings Provide assistance with commissioning of projects as needed Have an excellent understanding of the CSA design codes as well as other relevant codes, standards, guidelines and best practices Design mechanical systems using relevant specifications and engineering concepts Evaluate mechanical systems by applying the principles of mechanics, thermodynamics,
hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials

Research and test manufacturing/assembly methods and materials Monitor system and product quality by developing and managing testing and quality assurance methods
Qualifications

The successful candidate must be registered with a Canadian provincial engineering association as a P.Eng., such as APEGA, APEGS, EGBC, etc., with approximately 6 or more years of experience in a dynamic civil and structural engineering role. You must be willing to practice among multiple provinces and obtain the necessary cross provincial licenses as required You must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and go above and beyond expectations. Must be able to handle very detailed work and demonstrate a high level of accuracy and due diligence Must be willing to authenticate documents and drawings Must be willing to provide mentorship as needed Must have a great attitude and be proactive Proficient in MS Office Experience working with point clouds for 3D modelling would be an asset
