As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will support projects that span multiple disciplines within our organization in order to deliver high quality and sustainable solutions to our clients. Responsibilities:
Provide support with mechanical & facilities deliverables: Design Basis, Input to PFDs, P&IDS, Material Balance, Input to Process Narratives and Operating Manuals, Input to Line Lists, Tie-In Lists, Mechanical Equipment Lists, Instrument and Equipment Datasheets.
Sizing and selection of mechanical equipment for projects.
Piping and static equipment material selection in corrosive and chemical service.
Rotating equipment sizing and selection including pumps of all types, compression, mixers and agitators.
Contribution to the preliminary and detailed design of water treatment plants in western Canada and elsewhere.
Field-level facility scoping and assessments.
Facility commissioning and construction support.
Process optimization studies and troubleshooting.
Interface with other departments as required to develop and implement multi-disciplinary projects.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
Assist with proposal development.
Share your technical knowledge and make recommendations on establishing standards and on practical applications.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
6-8 years applicable experience in industrial water treatment or mining.
Pumping/piping systems/packaged equipment experience an asset.
Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements:
Committed team player with experience in working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports.
Proven leadership and communication skills, with strong client communication skills.
Flexibility to take on multiple projects.
Recent demonstrable experience in hydraulic calculations for both surface and pipeline designs is an asset.
Field/site experience is an asset.
Additional assets include:
+ Experience with pumping, piping systems and packaged equipment.
+ Pipestress experience. Legally able to work in Canada.
