Your role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will be involved in a wide range of Hydro and Transmission and Distribution Projects, specifically focusing on Balance of Plant systems.

Our project portfolio is diverse, including both large and small hydro projects across Canada, the US, and international locations. As part of our Mechanical team, you will have the chance to conduct inspections, perform design calculations, develop procurement specifications, collaborate with equipment vendors, and engage with our esteemed clients. Not only will you contribute to the success of our projects, but you will also play a vital role in mentoring and providing technical guidance to our junior engineers, fostering their growth and development.

How will you contribute to the team:

  • Act as Package Engineer (technical lead) working directly with vendors on equipment supply contracts for, piping, pumps, oil handling systems, HVAC systems, compressed air systems, wastewater systems, raw water systems, dewatering systems, drainage systems, and service water systems.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team, coordinating with civil, electrical, and other mechanical engineers.
  • Perform design analysis and calculations for various balance of plant systems (Dewatering, HVAC, oil handling, raw water systems etc.) and other equipment
  • Preliminary sizing of equipment for conceptual designs and to provide input to support civil design.
  • Work with drafting technicians to prepare design drawings and conceptual / tender level drawings for equipment.
  • Prepare design basis memoranda, technical memoranda, and reports, and coordinate report preparation within a multidisciplinary team.
What will you contribute:
  • Candidates must be registered or be eligible for registration as a P. Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • As a minimum, candidates must possess a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the hydroelectric industry
  • An excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).
  • Proven mentoring, teamwork, and leadership skills.
