PRIMARY PURPOSE: In this role you will have the opportunity to make an impact as our Intermediate Industrial Hygiene Specialist and help in the efforts to expand this service line. This position is part of our plan to build on the services we currently provide to our clients with a focus on water damage & mold, asbestos and other hazardous substances, smoke damage and other types of air monitoring as may be required on a project-by-project basis. You will report to EFI\xe2\x80\x99s Ontario Leader for Environmental Operations. You will perform field site investigations and collect, input, analyze and organize data and prepare reports. You will also be responsible for liaising with clients and any third parties involved as well as regulatory agencies, as needed, to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local guidelines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct or manage OHS projects
  • An understanding of the consulting business and insurance market
  • Assist in business development activities to strengthen the company\xe2\x80\x99s existing client base and help to build new client relationships.
  • Good written and oral communication a must.
  • Ability to develop new business relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Identify and attend events that provide promotional opportunities for the company
  • Ensure that appropriate HSE protocols are followed and reports are completed in a timely manner
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflicts within a project, independently, if required.
  • Budget preparation and invoice review
  • Monitor the efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists.
  • Assists in the appropriate, accurate, and timely collection of field samples (air, asbestos, mould, etc.) and submits samples to laboratory for testing and analysis
  • Document billable hours on a time and expense basis, as applicable, for services rendered for external clients.
  • Gather detailed notes, takes photographs, and document data (e.g temperature, relative humidity, and moisture content, etc) as required.
  • Prepares reports based on scientific findings and scope of work per project.
  • Follows industry acceptable methodology for performance of services.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and prospects.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complies with Company\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Programs/Standards
  • Properly utilizes Personal Protection Equipment
  • Exercises appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment (company owned or leased)
  • Complies with company standards and best practices regarding the storage of equipment
  • Complies with all Human Resources Policies, Programs, and Initiatives
  • Meets or exceeds productivity levels and daily time submission as determined by Manager.
  • All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing University degree in the field of Occupational Health & Safety or have a current professional designation or ability to achieve CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professionals) or other OHS designation. Experience

Minimum five (5) years of experience in a HSE role preferably with some business development experience. Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of current occupational health industry standards, regulations, techniques, and equipment for performance of services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Competitive pay with bonus incentive, car allowance, gas card, benefits, pension with office work from home available
  • Travel, at least, 30-40% of the time principally local but can be across province.
  • Exposure to all elements of the weather
  • Walking, climbing, etc., as required
  • Occasional lifting, up to 50 pounds, as required
  • 40-60% work in field environment
