Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze environmental and permitting data using standard tools and formats to support project planning and regulatory submissions. Work independently to ensure accuracy and completeness in data-driven deliverables.
  • Sampling and Testing: Oversee or support the collection of environmental samples for laboratory testing in accordance with statutory frameworks and best practices. Ensure sampling activities align with permitting requirements and environmental standards.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Coordinate the identification, assessment, and mitigation of environmental risks across biophysical and permitting scopes. Integrate risk management strategies into project planning and stakeholder communications.
  • Environmental Risk Management: Coordinate the process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating environmental risks.
  • Solutions Analysis: Interpret environmental and permitting data to identify viable solutions and strategies. Navigate complex regulatory frameworks and precedents to support project decision-making.
  • Insights and Reporting: Prepare environmental assessments, technical reports, and discipline-specific documentation. Contribute to analytics and reporting that inform clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation: Prepare proposals for permitting and biophysical studies, particularly within Atlantic Canada. Coordinate inputs from internal teams and sub-consultants to develop competitive and compliant submissions.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients and support senior colleagues in managing key accounts. Attend and present in client meetings, ensuring clear communication of project scope, progress, and outcomes.
  • Community of Practice Management: Actively participate in communities of practice related to environmental permitting and biophysical consulting. Share expertise and contribute to the development of best practices within the organization.
  • Project Management: Lead biophysical and permitting scopes of work for clients across various industries. Coordinate internal GHD environmental disciplines and external sub-consultants to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow organizational HSE policies and procedures to ensure safe project execution. Identify and address risky behaviours within the team, escalating serious issues as appropriate. Support safe planning and execution of public consultation events and field activities.
  • Personal Capability Building: Engage in formal and informal training, coaching, and development planning. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting frameworks, and industry best practices through ongoing education and professional development.
What you will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor degree in biology, environmental science, or a related discipline
  • 3-5 years project experience with a specific focus within the natural resource, mining and energy sectors (e.g., EA, mining company or mine projects, etc.)
  • Experience in managing biophysical studies and permitting scopes in Atlantic Canada.
  • Experience in all stages of the project life-cycle, from preparing bids, field work oversite, to data analysis and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
  • Past experience in biophysical work to support contaminated sites programs is a benefit.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle;
