, a dynamic mechanical and electrical engineering firm, is looking for an experienced intermediate electrical Engineer / Designer to join our fast-paced growing team. When you join us, you will work directly with Electrical Managers to develop projects from conceptual design through to construction administration.
As part of your role, you will be responsible to assist Electrical Managers in the design of electrical systems and construction administration activities.
You'll be responsible for:
Report to Electrical Manager to work independently and with minimal supervision on project.
Lead the project to produce schematic design, design development, tender and construction documents meeting the project requirement.
Preparing drawings, specifications, and reports necessary to deliver a project, including but not limited to: Performing electrical load calculations; Space planning for utility space, such as Electrical room(s), and LAN room(s); Preparing interior /exterior lighting layouts and lighting photometric calculations; Preparing fire alarm system layouts; Preparing low voltage system layout, such as PA, Security & Communication, etc.; Preparing power distribution design, including but not limited to Hydro design coordination, Single line diagram and general power layout.
Coordinating with other project team members, including architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
Review and application of relevant building codes and standards.
Conduct site review to gather existing electrical information for renovation work.
Attend project design meetings as required.
Construction Management including, but not limited to: reviewing shop drawings, preparing change notices / site instructions, conducting site reviews, reviewing progress draws etc.
Qualifications:
Minimum 6 years or more years of experience in the electrical consulting field.
Design experience on various types of buildings/facilities projects including schools, commercial offices, warehouse, retail tenant fit-out, etc.
Work within an electrical engineering team in a time sensitive environment with changing priorities.
P. Eng. from PEO.
Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code, all applicable CAN-ULC standards and CSA codes.
Self-motivated and commitment to working in a multi-discipline team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
AutoCAD experience is required, and Revit MEP proficiency desired.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player.
Ability to work independently and under pressure, and deal with deadlines.
Able to perform site surveys of existing electrical systems and Construction site inspection.
Open to learning, developing new skills/knowledge.
