A day in the life:
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading the engineering design of electrical systems for both new construction and retrofit projects The role is expected to include but not limited to the following:
  • Perform site survey/visits.
  • Prepare electrical design brief, perform power calculations, lighting calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, switchgear and Panel selections.
  • Design of Normal and Emergency power systems including UPS, BESS with focus on data center type or science based facilities.
  • Prepare electrical drawings and specifications as per applicable WSP standards, building codes and standards to suit project deliverables
  • Working knowledge on IT, security systems.
  • Attend client meetings.
  • Assist in the development of fee proposal letters and response to RFPs.
  • Attend design team meetings.
  • Coordination with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, civil engineers, and other disciplines for project implementation
  • Review of shop drawings and response to Request for Information
  • Prepare electrical site instructions and change notices as required
  • Lead the preparation of responses to requests for quotations
  • Other duties as assigned/required.
We'd love to hear from you if you have...
  • Have a strong understanding of electrical system design associated with Data center buildings or science facilities like labs or pharmaceutical.
  • Experience with decarbonization type projects.
  • Electrical Engineer with valid PEO License.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in Consulting industry.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit and other calculation sofwares like ETAP, AGI32 etc.
  • Experience on electrical systems associated with central plant designs.
  • General Arrangement, power and lighting layouts, lightning protection, Grounding & earthing details etc.
  • A "can do" attitude with good initiative, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Profound knowledge of Ontario Building Codes, CSA standards, ESA requirements associated with electrical systems.
  • Must have strong desire and ability to collaborate and solve problems in an integrated team environment.
  • Desire to interact with clients.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft suite of programs.
  • Previous consulting experience in educational, recreational, cultural, sports facilities projects is an asset.
