As a Mechanical/Structural Designer, you should be comfortable working with a mining group, have a strong mechanical aptitude, desire to learn, and good problem solving and communication skills. Duties
The Mechanical/Structural Designer is responsible for assisting in the design and planning of a diverse range of engineering projects. You'll work closely with the engineering team to establish, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of the engineering effort to undertake and complete the technical engineering design in accordance with the project scope documents.
Your Key Responsibilities
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and other Designers to provide detailed design work and drafting for projects
Prepare drawings for submission, as well as assist in the preparation of design calculations, technical reports, and project specifications
Collaborate with project teams to ensure drawings and designs meet client and industry specifications, regulations and standards
Develop design solutions that meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulations
Participate in site visits and assessments to gather data for project planning
Meets with clients and stakeholders to understand and execute deliverables
Provide technical guidance to customers, stakeholders, and external consultants
Work from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions
Contribute to the development of project schedules and assist in tracking project progress
Assists with proposal preparation
Develop project cost estimates and material lists
Manage external client relationships through effective and timely communication
Provide coaching and guidance to project team members
Assist other designers with project deliverables
Qualifications
Proficient and experienced with Inventor, AutoCAD, Advance Steel and Plant 3D
Expertise in problem analysis, problem-solving and design thinking
Effective technical communication skills, both oral and written
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship at time of application
Education and Experience
Diploma or certificate in mechanical/structural engineering technology and/or CAD/CAM
5-10 years of experience in related fields
Preference given to applicants who have piping experience are proficient in AutoCAD Plant3D
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $72,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
