The Opportunity:
We are seeking two Intermediate Construction Inspectors and contract administrators to join our consulting engineering Field Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professional with a strong background in watermain and sewer construction inspection who are committed to delivering quality infrastructure with safety, precision, and community care at the forefront.
This role is primarily field-based, with flexibility to work out of the Hamilton or Mississauga offices depending on project requirements and personal preference.
What You'll Be Doing:
Oversee the construction of linear water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Conduct thorough on-site inspections to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, contract documents, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Ensure contractor adherence to safety plans, traffic control measures, and environmental protocols.
Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, as-built records, and progress tracking.
Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, municipal authorities, and the public.
Support contract administration tasks such as payment verification, change order reviews, and meeting documentation.
Mentor junior inspection staff and contribute to team development.
Demonstrate professionalism and empathy when addressing community concerns related to construction impacts.
Participate in construction meetings, prepare minutes, and coordinate with specialist inspection agencies (e.g., geotechnical, disinfection, CCTV).
Provide constructability feedback during design phases and assist with tender/contract document preparation.
Support evening and weekend inspections as required by project schedules.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
Minimum of 7 years of sewer and watermain construction inspection experience.
Strong knowledge of trenching safety, traffic control, watermain and sewer installation, and restoration practices.
Familiarity with trenchless technologies (an asset).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Ability to interpret contract documents and engineering drawings.
Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and scheduling.
Knowledge of OHSA and construction regulations.
Excellent organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
Valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle
