Intermediate Claims Professional

based in Ontario, ideally near Ancaster, Hamilton, or the GTA.

Brownstone Insurance Managers Inc. (BIM) is an insurance intermediary that specializes in providing programs, solutions and niche products for our clients with an office located in Ancaster, Ontario. We specialize in commercial property, casualty, auto, and program insurance.

BIM is a managing general agent that specializes in providing market access to licensed insurance brokers for both Canadian-based insurers as well as solutions in the open market with consistent growth fueled by a dedicated team of experienced professionals supported by solid partnerships with top insurance carriers in Canada.

The opportunity:



In your role as Intermediate Claims Professional, you will focus on servicing commercial claims from all lines of business. You will work primarily on commercial property, auto physical damage and subrogation/recovery files. The ideal candidate has experience handling Canadian and US losses. You will have the opportunity to cross train and handle cargo, bodily injury, loss transfer and litigated losses. Customer service is at the core of our company and, as such, the successful candidate will demonstrate superior customer service and communication skills.

Position duties and responsibilities:



Providing claims expertise to our client base. Attending mediations, trials, or key depositions to evaluate and resolve claims. Investigating claims to determine the extent of responsibility on the insurance company. Reporting and processing claims by researching the policy and accumulating evidence regarding the claim. Contributing to corporate profit and growth as part of an experienced and dedicated team. Providing prompt and courteous service to all business partners. Communicating decisions and responding to requests in a prompt and professional manner. Understanding rating procedures, wordings, underwriting policies and regulations. Performing risk analysis using technology as well as external data sources for the purposes of quoting, negotiating and authorizing the acceptance of risk. Maintaining accurate records of decisions made and maintain completeness of policy data.

What you bring to the team:



A knack for working with people and numbers. A solid understanding of the Canadian claims, underwriting, and insurance industry. Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and be successful as part of a team. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent working knowledge of broker management systems. Strong sense of personal ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills. Exceptional time management and multi-tasking abilities that allow you to meet tight deadlines.

Education and experience:



Minimum five years of claims experience is preferred. CIP designation or working toward. Provincially licensed - outside of RIBO is an asset. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Financial acumen, including the ability to understand financial statements and client's loss history preferred. Relevant experience interacting with brokers preferred.
