SBA is currently accepting resumes for an

Intermediate Civil Technical Designer

on our CAD/Design team. We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong technical design background in civil, environmental, water/wastewater process, and structural engineering related projects to join our team full-time. Working at SBA can be a fast-paced environment that requires collaboration and engagement from multiple disciplines throughout project development. The successful candidate will effectively assist project managers, engineers, and senior technical staff by effectively managing CAD projects. The will also supporting other sectors of the company, foster strong relationships with clients, and pursue business development opportunities for SBA. SBA provides a hybrid role, with expectation of in-office attendance as requested.

Responsibilities:



Develop detailed AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and GIS design drawings for various projects as assigned. Review, understand, and utilize existing predesign information such as legal surveys, topographical surveys, geotechnical investigation reports, utility locations, provided client drawings for proposed designs. Develop civil, environmental, structural, architectural and water/wastewater process design drawings including feasibility drawings, site plans, grading plans, servicing plans, alignments, corridors, assemblies, lineal infrastructure, design profiles, cut/fill analysis, material take offs, project details, floor plans, buildings sections, and sketches. Efficiently prepare design drawings for feasibility, conceptual, detailed design, tender, construction, and as built/as constructed phases. Assist the project design team and provide design input based on prior experience and understanding of project requirements. Ensure designs conform to current practices and engineering standards (i.e., OPS, AWWA, OBC, MECP, etc.). Complete projects and designs in a timely manner while liaising with other experts, team members, and stakeholders. Coordinating assignments with other disciplines (architectural, HVAC, electrical, landscape). Support with the development and updating of design templates in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit. Determine design material take off quantities. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:



A College Engineering Technician/Technology Diploma or University Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Consultant engineering experience with five (5) years of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit and GIS design experience. Proficiency and proven experience using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit (Structural and MEP), and GIS. Knowledge regarding municipal engineering and planning, civil construction design, environmental, water and wastewater process, and structural engineering. Ability to design drawings for water and wastewater treatment plants, subdivisions, roads, watermains, sewers, subdivisions, storm water management, site and grading plans and buildings. Has an understanding and experience with coordinating and working on multidisciplinary projects (architectural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines). Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Strong attention to detail, and a disciplined self-starter who can work within project timelines to complete work on schedule and on budget. Understands the fundamentals of engineering specifications and contract documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Working towards or actively registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario is considered an asset. Familiarity with OPS, AWWA, OBC, and MECP standards is considered an asset.

Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
