The Materials Testing Division has an immediate opening for a full-time Intermediate Civil Engineer possessing 5+ years of relevant experience. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Engineer to join our growing Materials Testing team in Northern Ontario. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing comprehensive engineering documents for municipal submission, ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires a strong technical background, proficiency in Civil 3D, and the ability to manage complex design tasks across a variety of development projects.

Duties and responsibilities for this position will include:
Prepare and produce engineering and construction drawings for diverse land development projects;
Create detailed plans, profiles, and 3D models using Autodesk Civil 3D;
Interpret and apply municipal and provincial design standards and regulatory requirements;
Develop technical reports and documentation to support planning and engineering submissions;
Build and manage design spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel;
Enhance the presentation of technical data through well-structured charts and tables;
Produce and revise high-quality drawings in collaboration with project teams;
Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
Provide on-site supervision and support during construction phases as needed;
Stay up to date with the latest CAD tools and Civil 3D advancements in coordination with senior CAD staff.
Develop solutions with senior personnel for complex design programs;
Work independently and as part of a team on multiple concurrent projects, with the ability to stay within budget and meet deliverable deadlines;
The ideal candidate for this dynamic and challenging role should have the following qualifications:
Undergraduate degree required in Civil Engineering;
Registered/licensed in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.);
5+ years of experience in civil design, specifically in land development projects;
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D;
Strong understanding of municipal engineering standards and development approval processes;
Experience with project coordination and construction supervision is an asset.
Solid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory requirements acquired through experience and education;
Strong technical understanding of field data collection, instrumentation, monitoring and sampling techniques;
Sound judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and manage cost-effective, practical solutions to client problems and/or potential non-compliance situations;
Strong ability to balance immediate and long-term work with varying priorities and deadlines;
Comfortable in both an office and field environment, depending upon assignment priorities;
Ability to deal tactfully and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, architects, and co-workers.
Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain client relationships.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Possess a valid Ontario driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
Candidate must be authorized to work in Canada
