In the capacity of Intermediate Civil Designer, you will be supporting the Community Development Team in municipal projects, with a focus on quality and team collaboration, from proposal preparation to project delivery.
The Intermediate Civil Designer has the interpersonal skills to foster a positive team environment and support a culture of team safety. Your skills sets will be called upon to execute a variety of tasks, including the technical preparation of proposals, concept, preliminary and detailed designs, subdivision roadway planning, quality reviews and a technical leadership role.
Your Key Responsibilities
Prepares designs at various levels, conceptual, preliminary design, and detailed design, tender and construction ready; and provides support through the construction phase of projects.
Design and review sanitary, storm, and water networks.
Prepare earthwork calculations using Civil 3D software.
Lead and guide the preparation of preliminary and detailed design projects for various clients
Design and coordinate with sub-consultants and other disciplines for the completion of the project.
Responsible for ensuring quality plans/reviews under undertaken and when appropriate.
Performs design tasks on road related projects, including the design and preparation of engineering drawings, using Civil 3D.
Collaborates with other disciplines and supporting technical staff for production of designs and drafting support.
Provide general engineering support to the project management team.
Conduct quality reviews of design deliverables.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Effective communication skills and aptitude for technical leadership within the group.
Participates and collaborates in project team setting and able to engage in creative and critical thought.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently.
Thorough understanding of applicable design guidelines, standards and codes (e.g., City of Toronto Design and Construction Standards)
Strong understanding of relevant design software, Civil3D, Auto-Turn and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Experience
Engineering Design and a minimum of 5+ years of directly related project experience producing commercial and residential land development designs.
Position will primarily work in an office setting. Flexible work week alternatives are possible.
