Intermediate and Senior Instrumentation Technologists
Gas Liquids Engineering (GLE) is a well-established, privately-owned engineering firm providing EPCM services to the energy industry, including project management, engineering, drafting and design, procurement, construction management and regulatory services.
We are currently seeking applications for Intermediate and Senior Instrumentation Technologists to join our Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EIC) team. The position is an integral technical resource of the EIC team leading and/or supporting a variety of challenging and innovative projects in natural gas, oil, fractionation, carbon sequestration, hydrogen generation, power generation and transmission projects.
As a member of our instrumentation engineering team your responsibilities, will include, but are not limited to:
Participate in delivering quality instrumentation and control design and packages as part of an instrumentation team and independently dealing with clients and other multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Review Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Develop Instrument Indexes, Datasheets, Control Narratives, Shutdown Keys, measurement schematics and other related technical drawings and documentation.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technologists, and designers, ensuring the quality and accuracy of engineering drawings and designs.
Assist in specifying, sizing, evaluating, and purchasing of instrumentation for processing equipment and completing the instrumentation design.
Provide great value to our customers through technically strong and efficient work.
Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, providing technical input and support.
Support the growth of the Instrumentation department through standards and templates review and development.
Requirements
Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, or similar, from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Registered with ASET and/or APEGA with the ability to authenticate (i.e. P.Tech, P.L. (Eng.), P. Eng) is considered an asset.
Intermediate Role:
4+ years of experience in energy projects.
Senior Role:
10+ years of experience in energy projects, with at least 1 year of experience leading junior and/or intermediate engineers, technologists, and designers/drafters.
Proficiency with sizing software for measurement and control valves.
Prior experience in oil and gas or process facilities is considered an asset.
Prior experience in power generation, transmission and substations is considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of project change management, procurement systems and procedures.
Excellent analytical, engineering problem-solving, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Ability to work directly with client office and field personnel in a flexible, fast-paced environment.
Occasional travel to facilities may be required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
