Intermediate Accountant - Payroll, Benefits and Advertising Accounting (12-month contract)

As an Intermediate Accountant - Payroll, Benefits and Advertising Accounting, you will be responsible for payroll, benefits, and advertising accounting in accordance with US GAAP, preparing the monthly bank reconciliations, timely remittance of payroll taxes and benefit payments, and preparing statutory reports for provincial and federal bodies.

In this role, the successful candidates is needed to be in the Greater Vancouver, BC area, where we practice a remote-first working model, leveraging in person interactions for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

What you will do:

  • Perform month end close processes, including the preparation of journal entries, liaise with subject matter experts on the business side to effectively and accurately identify the best data source to compile explanations to support P&L and balance sheet variance analysis for the assigned accounts.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts in accordance with U.S. GAAP and enterprise standard operating procedures (SOP\xe2\x80\x99s) to meet internal compliance requirements. Investigate and resolve any related discrepancies.
  • Prepare payroll balancing, statutory reporting and remittances of payroll taxes and benefit payments.
  • Work closely and maintain strong relationship with the payroll, advertising and treasury team to ensure all reporting is accurate, and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Prepare annual budgets for assigned income statement and balance sheet accounts. Support business with reporting as requested. Prepare weekly EFT payment reconciliation, weekly payroll, and benefit cash forecast.
What we are looking for:
  • 2+ years full cycle accounting experience/payroll and benefit/advertising accounting in a mid to large size organization
  • 2+ years understanding controls, performing routine reconciliations and P&L variance analysis.
  • Intermediate MS Excel and Access skills
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • Second Year CPA Program or higher (preferred)
