Job Summary
The Intermediate Accountant, under the direction of the Controller, is responsible for supporting the preparation of accurate and timely financial information. This position plays a key role in general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Intermediate Accountant assists with monthly and year-end closing processes, prepares working papers, supports the annual audit, and ensures the integrity of financial data. This role requires strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within the accounting team.

Job Duties
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger adjustments.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform variance analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare month-end working papers and supporting schedules for review by the Controller.
Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable subledger and assist with collection follow-up as required.
Support other accounting functions such as accounts payable, payroll, and inventory as needed.
Assist with payroll preparation, including processing, internal and annual reporting, and maintaining employee payroll files.
Assist with year-end audit by preparing working papers, providing supporting documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Cross-train with other accounting roles to provide coverage during vacation periods and peak workloads.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
Job Requirements
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-location or retail/franchise environment.
Working toward or holding a CPA designation is an asset.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end closing processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
General IT knowledge and proficiency with technology systems would be an asset.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and support colleagues.
Work Conditions
Extended periods of sitting.
Operation of desktop computer and peripherals.
Occasional overtime during month-end and year-end closing periods.
Working in an office environment (non-remote position).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
