Job Description


This is a 100% fully remote position for one of the top 20 accounting firms in Canada.

As an Intermediate Accountant you will be working on assignments under the direct supervision of a Manager, Director and a Partner for all types of assurance engagements. You will be working in a broad range of industries on a variety of engagements, including emerging industries such as cannabis, psychedelics, and gaming. You will oversee entire engagements from planning to completion, including but not limited to:

\xc2\xb7 Completing and overseeing others\xe2\x80\x99 work on audit files

\xc2\xb7Coaching Junior Accountants by providing input and expertise where necessary

\xc2\xb7Building effective and long lasting working relationships on assignments with operational client contacts

\xc2\xb7Provide valuable suggestions and contributions related to various assignments and projects

\xc2\xb7Perform research and prepare more complex opinions for technical conclusions on client engagements

\xc2\xb7Preparing complex areas of the file

\xc2\xb7Co-ordinating group audits with component auditors in other cities and countries

\xc2\xb7Reviewing work completed by Junior Accountant team members

\xc2\xb7Responding effectively and efficiently to client, manager and partner requests

Summary of Responsibilities

\xc2\xb7Planning, execution and completion of audit files

\xc2\xb7Understanding technical standards with the expected level of assistance and supervision

\xc2\xb7Ability to recognize relevant accounting and audit issues from basic analysis

\xc2\xb7To facilitate successsful remote work:

o High level of responsiveness to fellow team members

o Access to quiet, private work space free of distractions

o Very frequent use of Microsoft Teams or Zoom

\xc2\xb7Building effective working client relationships on assignments with operational client contacts

\xc2\xb7Managing allocated projects or assignments, including time management

\xc2\xb7Responding effectively to client, manager and partner requests and suggestions relating to an assignment

\xc2\xb7Supervising and training junior staff

\xc2\xb7 maintaining technical knowledge \xe2\x80\x93 IFRS, ASPE, CAS - by: attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networks

\xc2\xb7Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Summary of Experience

\xc2\xb72+ years of audit experience

Requirements:

\xc2\xb7Possessing leadership qualities and ability to support team members and goals

\xc2\xb7Strong commitment to quality

\xc2\xb7CPA designation or at least substantial progress thereto

\xc2\xb7Knowledge and experience working with IFRS, ASPE and CAS to be able to complete complex areas of an engagement

\xc2\xb7Must be a motivated self starter who maintains focus while working remotely

\xc2\xb7Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate well with clients, managers and partners

\xc2\xb7Strong file management skills and organization

\xc2\xb7Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously

\xc2\xb7Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

\xc2\xb7Experience with Caseware
