Reporting to the Manager, Research and Strategic Initiatives, the Interdisciplinary Research Coordinator (IRC) will provide project coordination support for a portfolio of grants within the Research Office (RO). The incumbent coordinates several internal calls for proposals, including the launch of call materials, intake and review of applications, and grant management and reporting for awarded projects. The incumbent will be responsible for tracking and reporting against a number of key performance metrics required by Sheridan and its funders, including equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), external partner details and training-related metrics. The incumbent will support the scheduling of mentorship activities on research projects and help to develop student training materials. Working closely with the Strategic Partnership Development Lead, the incumbent will also be responsible for identifying and developing cross-faculty collaborative research opportunities with external partners, coordination of Sheridan\'s interdisciplinary research space, and coordination of projects within that space.

What You\'ll be Doing

  • Developing program guidelines, and application, review and award materials; working with the RO Communications Officer for dissemination;
  • Coordinating review committees to evaluate submitted applications; assessing review results and providing funding recommendations to Manager and Director;
  • Grant coordination for projects awarded funding through internal calls, including coordinating and leading project team meetings, liaising with project partners, ensuring completion of reporting, and providing high-level oversight of project agreements, milestones, timelines and budgets, in collaboration with the Research Finance Analyst team;
  • Establishing tracking tools (e.g. surveys, spreadsheets) for a range of metrics and KPIs including: equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI); student recruitment, training and mentorship; project partners and outcomes;
  • Collecting and analyzing metrics for a portfolio of projects as required by funding agencies and/or Sheridan;
  • Assisting Principal Investigators and students with tracking and scheduling of mentorship opportunities;
  • Identifying opportunities within Sheridan faculties and Research Centres for interdisciplinary collaboration on projects, and coordinating discussions and project development;
  • Scheduling and coordinating space and equipment usage in Sheridan\'s K-Wing interdisciplinary research areas;
  • Providing high-level oversight of timelines and milestones of projects within the interdisciplinary areas;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following requirements:
  • 4-year degree in Project Management, Administration, Technical or Social Science; familiarity with Research methodology.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in Project Management, in a research environment preferably in a post-secondary institution or related environment (college, university, research hospital, funding agency), including familiarity with processes for calls for research proposals.
  • Knowledge of research grant processes, terms and conditions; appreciation for research in an educational environment and an understanding of its complexities and challenges.
  • Knowledge of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principles and best practises.
  • Ability to apply an interdisciplinary approach to applied research, including the identification and facilitation of partnership opportunities and coordination of project activities.
  • Excellent project coordination, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Intermediate level MS Excel and Word.
  • Experience using databases or online records systems and computer proficiency (e.g. Excel, SharePoint).
