Skeetchestn, Tk'emlups te Secwepemc, and Whispering Pines/Clinton and
who reside in Kamloops.

based practice, SCFSA incorporates a Signs of Safety framework as an
innovative, strengths-based, and safety-organized approach to child
protection casework.
Job Summary
The Intensive Youth Mental Health Clinician provides individual, group, and family counselling to youth who are being served by the Intensive Youth Support Team. The clinician works with the team to provide consultation and treatment planning that best supports the individual needs of the youth they are working with. The Intensive Youth Mental Health Clinician is part of a team that is responsible for the care, safety and wellbeing of youth from ages 12 to 19 who require intensive supports due to involvement in a variety of high-risk activities and behaviors.
The goal of this team is to safeguard the youth's well-being, to develop safe environments for their growth and development, to provide opportunities for youth to reach their full potential, and to assist youth in securing the supports they need to facilitate a healthy, successful transition into young adulthood.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Master's degree in Social work, Psychology, Counselling or relevant field;
Direct experience working with youth who have experienced mental health concerns, trauma, addictions;
Direct experience with individual, group and family counselling;
Experience working with Indigenous families, children and youth;
Skills and Abilities
Has a demonstrated ability to work with individuals, groups and families;
Strong understanding of social, economic, political, and historical challenges in First Nations communities;
Knowledgeable in child and youth mental health;
Public speaking/group facilitation experience with youth;
Values collaboration and builds trusting relationships;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Has attention to detail and respects confidentiality;
Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability;
Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently, show initiative,proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to use integrated case management;
Ability to handle crisis and participate in crisis intervention assistance;
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), and Adobe Acrobat;
Ability to participate fully in outreach activities whether individually or with community partners;
Demonstrates a strong understanding of and respect for cultural diversity, particularly Indigenous culture.
Working Conditions
Occasional travel required;
Must be willing to travel by foot within local urban areas that are frequented by high-risk youth;
Potential for violence in the workplace;
Hours of work are nonstandard and connected to services and community needs;
Receives regular supervision with direction and checks of the work performed.
Conditions of Employment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check;
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver's License class 5 no restrictions;
Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate insurance to meet program requirements;
Pay Grade
Starting wage is $46.8519
