We are looking for an Intelligence Analyst to support our Knowledge, Information and Technology Services Branch. The successful candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

Working for the Intelligence and Analytics (I&A) team in NRC\'s Library and Information Management Services (NRC-LIMS), the incumbent of this position supports LIMS\'s role as the National Science Library and provider of knowledge and information to NRC and the Canadian innovation community to ensure that clients have essential information for decision-making, opportunity identification, and world class research and technology development.

The successful candidate will be part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team where communication and teamwork are critical and interactions with clients and partners are frequent.

The Intelligence Analyst aligns the production of strategic intelligence, Research and Development landscapes, environmental scans, and other relevant insights with organizational and business objectives. This work informs the assessment of business opportunities, Foresight initiatives and strategic planning.

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will contribute to client success by performing R&D trend analysis using advanced data and text analytics tools and methodologies. You will expose research fronts and model the business and technical environments through deep-dive analyses of patenting and scientific publishing activity, within the context of industry and market activity. Using state-of-the-art visualization tools, the analyst identifies key clusters of expert networks and discovers new areas of application for emerging technologies.

The intelligence analyst is responsible for the promotion, and delivery of scientific, technical and industry analysis projects. These projects typically involve the assessment of client requirements, planning and leading projects, coordinating contributions from various collaborators, as well as the gathering, analysis and synthesis of competitive and technical intelligence, packaged into insightful deliverables.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Master\'s degree in Library and Information Studies, preferably preceded by a degree in business, data analytics, science or engineering.

Experience
  • Recent* experience in a professional or advisory role having a demonstrated impact on organizational decision processes, preferably in a business or industry environment;
  • Extensive experience in the provision and promotion of scientific, technical and business information services to senior management, executives and business advisors or R&D program leads;
  • Experience with cutting edge information analysis tools and methodologies applied to patent, scientific, technical and business information;
  • Significant experience in research, analysis and synthesis of S&T, business, industry information and in generating insights and recommendations;
  • Experience in managing projects and teams, and coordinating service delivery in a project-oriented, matrix environment;
  • Experience working in Data Analytics, Information and Communications Technologies, Engineering or Defense industry sectors, would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to collect, extract, synthesize, develop conclusions and present findings clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
  • Solid knowledge of enhanced information retrieval, analysis tools and visualization software.
  • Significant knowledge of patent information and patent analysis for the purposes of competitive intelligence and business decision making.
  • Knowledge of statistics, data analytics, and bibliometric or scientometric methods would be an asset.

Compensation

From $88,379 to $104,312 per annum.
