DUTIES

Integrated Strategic Planning (ISP) is a collaborative, pan-institutional approach to achieving TRU\'s strategic objectives, and making the Vision Statement a reality. In support of this, the ISP Project Manager will provide strategic direction, leadership, and project management for the ISP project they\'re supporting. The Project Manager will work closely with the ISP project team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to ensure that there is an effective project plan, meaningful consultation, and effective implementation of the project. The Project Manager is also responsible for regular monitoring and reporting of project progress to ensure outcomes are achieved.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews and analyzes existing ISP documentation and plans to provide strategic advice to the ISP project team.
  • Manages and leads the project, bringing it to conclusion.
  • Engages multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts to create and manage project plans including clearly defining and communicating project scope, deliverables, milestones, schedule, timelines, and project success criteria.
  • Determines frequency and content of status reports and troubleshoots problem areas/mitigates project risks.
  • Prepares various reports and presentations, including reports for committees, expense reports, and help monitor financial commitments and expenditures for the project.
  • Drafts and submits budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Manages project expectations and communicates with project sponsors, key stakeholders, and team members in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Manages project management resources as required to augment internally available resources.
  • Coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervises project team members, and influences positive action and accountability for assigned work.

Designated Manager

This position supports the Livable Cities, Collaborative Communities Steering Committee in the implementation of a research conference scheduled at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) for February 2024. The ISP Project Manager manages all aspects of the event planning process. This is a part-time, term position, and the successful candidate will be able to commit to approximately 435 hours over six months (beginning of September to end of February).

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant discipline; formal Project Management Certification or credential will be considered an asset.
  • Five years\' experience in project management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a sophisticated understanding of what should be communicated to different audiences.
  • Ability to adapt and work under pressure with shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial budgeting and control.
  • Experience in managing personnel, along with providing leadership, guidance, and direction.
  • Superior computing skills including all aspects of MS Office Suite, data analysis software, and databases.
  • Experience with literature searches as well as quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation.
