Integrated School Support Program (ISSP) Worker St. Andrews School, High Prairie, Alberta



HFCRD is seeking a Full Time Integrated School Support Program (ISSP) Worker for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. This position is located at St. Andrews School in High Prairie, Alberta, and offers a variety of experiences working in both the school and community settings.


Program Description:

The Integrated School Support Program (ISSP) was established in 2014 as a joint initiative between the Calgary Police Youth Foundation, Calgary Police Service (CPS), Calgary Board of Education (CBE), Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) and the City of Calgary. The goal of the Program is to provide intensive wraparound services to create an environment in which each student attending an ISSP school can succeed both academically and socially. The wraparound services are intended to be universal within an elementary school setting and provide individualized supports that are immediate, located within the school, and aimed at supporting the child from a holistic perspective. Supports embedded in the school include a full-time mental health professional, a full-time physical education specialist, nutrition support, after-school programs, and a positive police presence.


Duties/accountabilities for this role may include



Support the mental health of students Provides assessment, consultation, and treatment services to students Determines special education eligibility, recommending programming strategies and/or placements Provides reports and documentation of psychological assessments for students Provides interpretation, consultation, and feedback regarding psychological opinions to parents and personnel Assists personnel with strategies for students encountering learning, behavioral, emotional, and social difficulties Liaises with external professionals/agencies toward integrated understanding and support of students Accountable for the development and provision of quality clinical services to students and families Works collaboratively with the Instructional Services multidisciplinary team

ISSP specific accountabilities include:

Assisting with Program evaluation and reporting to CPYF Attend School Resource Team meetings Manage Case load - Individual Student Appointments Calls from parents in crisis - reach out to parents to support when needed, connect to resources Supervise during unstructured times Teacher requests - in-class support for dysregulated students Admin meetings re: attendance concerns, dysregulation, trauma, emotional /psychological/educational student struggles Consult with professionals outside the school district (pediatricians, psychologists, family support agencies, 211 and others.) Consult with and support all staff with questions other medical/educational/mental health needs Be present outside daily for school start & dismissals - available to students & parents with concerns Community engagement - be present to know families, build relationships, attend parent-teacher conferences Work closely with admin team and counselor to provide professional growth opportunities both formally and informally

Requirements

A relevant post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences, or relevant courses and experience At least 2 years working experience in mental health or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered) Skill and knowledge or facilitation, positive communication and creative thinking Ability to work independently and with a team A police information check and an intervention Record check must be completed upon hire
Salary is based on experience and qualifications.
