About Us

Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world\'s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.

The Role

Cameco is looking for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our geology team. In this position, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist.

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure acquisition and management of diamond drill core logging, record data into the database and verify the accurate selection and shipment of core samples
  • Have oversight for underground tunneling, provide guidance on development, ground conditions and ensure prints are followed
  • Be responsible for recording and reporting NATM activity, underground mapping of development headings, computerized data management, data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and radiometric probing
Required:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in geology or geological engineering
  • Minimum of two years of relevant geological/mine geology experience (core logging, underground geological mapping)
  • Experience working in an underground work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to perform manual labour, including heavy lifting, as required for this position
  • Valid class 5 driver\'s licence
  • Safety-oriented work attitude
  • Work a rotational schedule, including night shift, and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
  • Eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Experience with Vulcan software

Safety Sensitive Site

The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.

Preference will be given to Residents of Saskatchewan\'s North (RSN).
