The Producer will be based out of one of two Shaw Insurance offices, but may be expected to
travel to other offices in order to provide relief. The base location of work is also subject to change based on
operational needs, and at Shaw Insurance's discretion.
Occasionally, an opportunity may arise to work overtime hours. All overtime hours must be pre-approved by the
manager. Unauthorized overtime is not permitted and will not be compensated.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The RIBO licensed Producer at Shaw Insurance will play a crucial role in driving sales growth and client satisfaction. The
Producer will be responsible for completing various administrative tasks, identifying and developing insurance
prospects, prequalifying prospects, designing insurance plans, and educating clients on coverage options. Attention to
detail, a proactive approach to client communication, and the ability to navigate insurance markets will contribute to
our brokerage's success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain an active diary in insurance broker management systems (BMS) for all client communication.
Complete administrative activities in BMS to ensure accurate client records.
Identify and develop insurance prospects and appropriate markets.
Respond to referrals quickly and effectively.
Prequalify insurance prospects for insurability and quality of risk.
Create and maintain client or prospect lists for internal use.
Design insurance plans and recommend coverage to clients.
Survey loss exposure, needs, and exposures for clients.
Create insurance proposals and make sales presentations to prospective and existing clients on new and renewal business.
Complete and submit applications and related documentation to appropriate insurance markets.
Educate clients concerning agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures.
Acknowledge non-standard coverage limitations and binding restrictions to document files and lower errors and omissions exposures.
Develop and maintain relationships with insureds.
Actively participate in staff meetings.
Identify training needs and develop a personal improvement plan in collaboration with management; take responsibility for learning and improving technical and sales skills regularly.
Read and interpret technical manuals and insurance information from carriers, vendors, and publishers.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS:
College or university education or equivalent insurance experience.
Must hold a valid Registered Insurance Broker of Ontario (RIBO) license.
CAIB designation preferred.
3+ years direct experience in generating new business sales, retention, and closing sales in insurance.
Familiarity with insurance broker management systems, particularly Powerbroker, is advantageous.
