We are currently looking to add an Insurance Claims Analyst, on a contract basis (from 6 - 12 months), to our National Claims team. This should be someone equally passionate about serving the community, as well as achieving operational success alongside our team of dedicated and loyal employees.

Position Summary

Reporting to the National Manager of Claims, the Insurance Claims Analyst is responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of assigned commercial insurance claims, including (but not limited to) the investigation and handling of losses relating to first-party automobile damages, third-party property and casualty liability losses, cargo losses, among other types of damages and incurred costs.

You will be working closely with our Safety, Fleet, and Operations Departments, in providing commercial trucking claims service and support. You will also be acting as a liaison between Canada Cartage Systems and our Insurance Company\'s assigned adjusters, so as to successfully investigate, negotiate, and settle any claims made, based on established Insurer and Corporate claims guidelines.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Days

What you\'ll do

  • Coordinates and handles all internal claims investigatons, and communicates all findings internally as well as to any applicable customers or vendors, within a timely manner.
  • Provides quality customer service to customers, claimants, and other stakeholders, with a primary goal of resolving claims efficiently and expeditiously.
  • Verifies and analyzes applicable insurance coverage for all reported losses and administers the financial aspect of assigned claims. This includes, but is not limited to, establishing, monitoring, and updating internal claim reserves, cost allocation, processing loss payments, and pursuing subrogation from any applicable parties.
  • Negotiates, settles, and resolves motor vehicle accident claims, cargo and property losses with insurance company adjusters, claimants, customers, and any other applicable third party claimant representatives.
  • Receives and reviews incident reports, as well as any other claim investigation material including: police reports, motor accident reports, property damage appraisals, and exception reports.
  • Works with internally-assigned independent adjusters, and other assigned representatives, with the purpose of bringing claims to successful resolution.
  • Performs duties in accordance with industry standards, regulations, corporate timelines, performance standards, and workplace safety and health policies and procedures, as applicable.
  • Coordinates with the corporation\'s fleet department, repair facilities, operations teams, and any assigned external recovery and salvage contractors, to ensure damaged equipment is repaired and operational within a timely and efficient manner.
  • Establishes, maintains, and manages digital claim files, including assessment of any applicable liability allocation and/or the scope and quantum of losses and orderly documentation of all investigation material.
  • Prepares subrogation documents and manages cost recovery for any applicable claim files.
  • Maintains active monitoring of all assigned files and diarizes to ensure claim files are managed effectively and within any applicable legislation time frames.
  • Participates in team meetings and proactively offers support, as needed, to colleagues on various matters.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned.
What you\'ll bring
  • Completion of high school required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience handling insurance claims. Prior experience in auto and/or commercial transportation claims would be considered an asset.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, through the Insurance Institute of Canada (or willing to work toward) would be considered asset.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a strong command of the English language.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, organizational, and planning skills required.
  • Must have the ability to problem solve, be self-motivated, and be able to work independently.
  • Must have excellent negotiation skills and be customer-service focused.
  • Must be proficient in internet and database applications, including Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and PowerPoint, and have the ability to create, modify and manipulate data in spreadsheets.
  • Must have excellent keyboarding skills, be able to type over 40 WPM.
  • Must be able to thrive in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
