Are you looking to advance your career in the insurance industry within a specialized area?
We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Assistant to join our client, a boutique insurance brokerage. In this role, you will work closely with Account Managers and Producers in the construction practice to provide exceptional client service while supporting multiple surety lines, including contract, developer, and commercial surety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Issue day-to-day bonds, prequals, finals, riders, endorsements, and other bonding instruments.
- Review bonding documents against requisitions and project specifications.
- Maintain renewals and invoicing for commercial surety accounts proactively.
- Track and organize client documentation, scan into systems, and update records.
- Calculate and confirm premium adjustments, renewals, and extensions.
- Assist with new bonding submissions as required.
- Keep client contacts current and manage data in Acturis.
- Process annual bond administration fees in advance of renewal.
- Ensure broker authorities are up to date in both digital and hard copy formats.
- Close or lapse finished bonds and follow up on lien bond status.
- Provide monthly or bi-weekly updates on outstanding tenders as required.
- Scan, email, and confirm accuracy of bid and final bonds with clients and bonding companies.
- Support commercial requests, including insurance certificates.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Salary is dependent on experience.
- Junior candidates: Education in insurance and/or 6 months of co-op, internship, or work experience within an insurance company.
- Experienced candidates: 1+ years working in a brokerage, preferably within commercial (construction/surety) insurance.
- Understanding of bonding processes and construction industry terminology is preferred.
- An active RIBO license is an asset but not mandatory.
