We are seeking an Instrumentation Technician at our production facility in Kanata, Ontario.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Instrumentation Technician carries out maintenance program on all instrumentation related to building operations, production facilities, radiation monitoring and measuring equipment; repairs, modifies and calibrates said systems and equipment utilizing up-to-date trade methods and procedures.

/ Duties:

• Working from schematics or wiring diagrams and layouts, assembles and installs electronic and pneumatic equipment.
• Examines and tests defective equipment to determine cause of malfunction or failure.
• Overhauls, tests and calibrates electronic, electrical and pneumatic equipment throughout facility.
• Maintains and repairs process instrumentation, programmable controllers and computer systems.
• Maintains air flow measuring equipment and related controls for nuclear ventilation.
• Carries out the provisions of a continuous instrumentation preventive maintenance system and maintains applicable records.
• Performs specific administrative duties such as maintaining accurate records of observations, results and data evaluations.
• Follow ongoing processes for conformance to operating procedures, specifications, GMP regulations and ISO standards.
• usually works with minimum supervision under direction of Senior Instrument Technician.

Job Qualifications/ Requirements:

• Electronic Technologist diploma (3 year program) from recognized Provincial College
• 5 to 7 years relevant experience.
• Must possess effective communications/interpersonal skills and be a dedicated team player.
• Regular rotation of on-call required, 24 hours per day.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts as per the collective agreement. May be required to work on weekends and evenings on an occasional or emergency basis.
• This position is classified as a Nuclear Energy Worker.

• Must have knowledge of analytical techniques of pneumatic, electric and electronic controls;
• Must have thorough knowledge of electronic, electric and pneumatic principles;
• Must have mechanical aptitude in use of hand tools for repairs;
• Must have good knowledge of all test equipment to be used relevant to this position;

Abilities:

• Be able to read blue prints and schematics;
• Be able to do free-hand layout schematics and wiring diagrams;
• Must have good colour vision to distinguish colour-coded components and wires;

Communication Requirements:

• Requires good verbal skills to be able to communicate with others;
• Requires good sketching skills including a neat, tidy and accurate presentation;
• Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and professional staff within the Company, as well as consultants, contractor and suppliers;

Working conditions, Other:

• Lift up to 10kgs on a frequent basis.
• Wear a respirator.
• Successful completion of a vision screening and hearing test.
• Working in cleanroom.
• Working at heights or in confined spaces required.
• Overtime as required.
