Instrumentation Technician (Full Time) - Sarnia, ON
The overall objective of the Linde Sarnia Instrumentation Technician is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the air separation production plant's electronic and instrumentation equipment. The Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for safe work practices, instrumentation and electronic repair or replacement. They will have a key role in making technical decisions and recommendations as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the use of safe work practices using proper permit procedures
Provide technical expertise in consultation with engineering resources as needed
Enter and maintain accurate records using CMMS programs (Procal & EAM)
Supervise electrical and instrumentation contractors when on site.
Ensure optimal execution of outage planning process
Drive resolution of highest impact issue with a strong sense of urgency and integrity
Act as a key contact with OEM vendors and suppliers
Qualifications:
Recognized formal college Instrumentation certificate.
Has a Canadian Red Seal certificate
Proven experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of Electronic equipment including PLC's, I/P controllers.
Experience in troubleshooting the pipeline communications equipment, including Radio Communications equipment.
Experience in navigating and using plant programs eg. Ladder Logic. To assist in diagnosis of possible concerns.
Must be self-starter who can effectively manage multiple tasks as required
Minimum 5 yrs experience in industrial environment
Experienced using a Fluke calibrating unit.
Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft applications.
Ability to read and understand vendors manuals, technical drawings and wiring schematics.
Can set up and maintain a spare part inventory control system.
Understanding of Air Separation Processes
Timely completion of assigned tasks and issuing of reports
Capable of learning and completing Management of Change documentation and procedures.
Experience in writing permits and in lock out/tag out procedures
A valid clean driving License.
Able to respond to call ins during off hours to trouble shoot and repair breakdowns
