, this position is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electronic instrumentation systems used across mining operations.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented technician who thrives in an outdoor, team-based environment and takes pride in maintaining the performance and reliability of critical systems.
Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off (10-12 hour shifts)
Location: Fort McMurray, AB (Local Position - No Camp Provided)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation & Calibration
Install, calibrate, and test sensors, control systems, and monitoring devices used in mining operations
Verify functionality and performance according to specifications and safety standards
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of all instrumentation systems
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, or software-related issues to minimize downtime
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
Data Analysis & Technical Support
Use diagnostic software and data analysis tools to identify and correct system faults
Support system optimization through accurate calibration and performance data review
Provide technical input to engineers and project teams
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with engineers, process technicians, and field teams to implement solutions
Maintain clear communication with the Operations Manager regarding project progress and equipment status
Health, Safety & Compliance
Adhere to LN and client safety standards and procedures
Participate in daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and all required documentation
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
QUALIFICIATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE
Diploma or Degree in
Instrumentation Technology
,
Electronics
, or a related field
Minimum
1 year
of experience in instrumentation maintenance and repair (mining experience preferred)
Proficiency in diagnostic and calibration tools, and computer-based analysis software
CSTS, OSSA/BSO, First Aid, and H2S Alive
safety certifications
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
with a clean abstract
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
WORK CONDITIONS
Field-based role in a mining environment
10-12 hour shifts on a 5/2 rotation
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and handling technical equipment
