TWD is currently seeking an Instrumentation Specialist to support our client based in Calgary, Alberta for a contract position for 1 year!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with Maintenance, Planning and Reliability teams to develop, revise and optimize equipment strategies to improve asset safety & reliability while reducing maintenance & lost opportunity costs.
  • Support the implementation of maintenance requirements for all AER MARP metering instruments to meet Suncor\xe2\x80\x99s regulatory commitments based on ongoing inspection and verification results.
  • Support the implementation of maintenance requirements (PM program updates) for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) testing and verifications.
  • Support the implementation of maintenance requirements (PM program updates) for CSA Z662 compliance, including programs for critical valves & related instrumentation.
  • Continuously improve the quality and accuracy of master data, including asset criticality rankings, bills of materials, and model numbers in support of equipment strategy implementation.
  • Support materials management improvement initiatives, including reviews for instrumentation obsolescence to determine replacement strategies and providing recommended sparing strategies to sustain reliable operations.
  • Lead and support instrument failure incident investigations by providing timely close out of investigation reports and corrective actions, and through collaboration with site, corporate and external stakeholders.
  • Provide recommendations for elimination of bad actors by improving asset safety, reliability, capability, operability and maintainability.
  • Support Reliability in the implementation of actions arising from risk assessments such as PHA, HAZOP, and LOPA, for the sustainment of existing assets and for new projects.
  • Respond to requests for clarifying and/or developing scopes of work for preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and MOC implementation, including for major outages and turnarounds.
  • Review asset performance analytics reports and liaise with site counterparts to support predictive maintenance and condition monitoring equipment strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Ten years of related experience, including at least three years directly supporting operations in either a maintenance or engineering role.
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in Engineering, Instrument Technology or a similar field.
  • Conversant with CSA & ISA codes and standards for instrumentation.
  • Competent in the review, interpretation and update of P&ID\xe2\x80\x99s, datasheets, logic diagrams, and control narratives.
  • Competent in the development and reviewing of Construction Work Packages (CWPs) for small engineering changes, to ensure enough information is provided and relevant drawings are created or updated.
  • Strong knowledge in the design, selection, maintenance & operation of various instrument types used in the oil & gas industry, from sensor to final device.
  • General understanding of AER directives and regulatory requirements for metering measurement and reporting.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of equipment strategy programs for preventative maintenance and condition monitoring by applying RCM (reliability centered maintenance) fundamentals.
  • Experience in navigating and extracting master data and work order history from an enterprise-level CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) for use in Excel.
  • Motivation and initiative with superb communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and to manage and prioritize multiple projects

Preference for:
  • Professional Engineer registered in the Province of Alberta with APEGA.
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in maintenance of instrumentation in an oil & gas or industrial operating environment.
  • Competent in the verification and testing requirements for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Experience in the design and commissioning of in situ oil sands pads and central plant facilities. EPC experience is also considered an asset.
  • Experience with SAP, Meridium, InTools, and Emerson DeltaV / AMS platform.
