Job Description

WestCorp Solutions is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to support ongoing maintenance programs, including major maintenance and turnaround activities, for our client's operations in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role will work closely with maintenance, operations, and project teams to ensure instrumentation scopes are safely planned, executed, and commissioned in alignment with site standards and procedures.

5/2 or 10/4 rotation (camp accommodations available)

Contract Length:

Ongoing requirement, initial contract estimated at 12 months

Key Responsibilities

Provide instrumentation engineering support throughout the planning and execution of major maintenance and turnaround scopes. Develop and review work packages, material requisitions, and engineering deliverables for instrumentation systems. Support field troubleshooting and provide technical guidance to maintenance and construction teams during execution. Review and validate vendor data, drawings, and documentation to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with site standards. Update and maintain engineering documentation, datasheets, and loop drawings to reflect as-built conditions. Participate in scope readiness reviews, risk assessments, and constructability reviews to ensure efficient execution. Liaise with multi-discipline teams to resolve technical issues and support scope delivery within schedule and cost targets. Promote and adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, or Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA (or eligibility to obtain). 5-10 years of instrumentation engineering experience in oil sands, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments. Strong working knowledge of field instrumentation, control systems, and process automation. Previous experience supporting turnaround or major maintenance activities within an operating facility. Proficiency in SAP, GE APM, and standard engineering documentation systems. Familiarity with ISA, API, and IEC standards. Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving. CSO or BSO certification required for client site access.
