Job Summary:





The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for the mechanical assembly of custom tooling The Instrument Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, calibration, and testing of precision instruments, electronic assemblies, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems. This includes soldering, wiring, assembly, potting, pneumatic/hydraulic integration, and functional testing to meet technical specifications and quality standards. The role requires collaboration with engineering and quality assurance to ensure products meet design, safety, and performance requirements. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to follow structured procedures are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities:





Assembly Duties:

Assemble mechanical equipment, cables, instruments, electronic components, and subassemblies based on technical drawings and specifications. Solder electronic components (SMT and through-hole) in accordance with IPC standards. Perform electrical wiring, cable harnessing, and connector assembly with proper routing and insulation. Assemble and test pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including cylinders, valves, pumps, actuators, and manifolds. Connect and route pneumatic/hydraulic lines, ensuring sealing, flow, and pressure requirements. Perform potting and encapsulation of assemblies for environmental protection. Calibrate instruments, sensors, and pneumatic/hydraulic devices using precision test equipment. Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and corrective actions for electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment. Travel to customer sites for equipment installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs. Provide technical feedback to internal teams based on assembly/field experience. Maintain accurate records of work performed and lessons learned.

Quality Assurance

Ensure adherence to all MITP (Manufacturing, Inspection, Test Plan) requirements, including hold/witness/inspection points. Identify and document assembly issues through NCR/ECR processes. Comply with QA/QC documentation, quarantine, and release protocols. Collaborate with QA and Supervisors on drawing reviews and approvals.

Purchasing & Materials

Support Supervisor in requisitioning consumables, tools, and special components required during builds. Ensure all required documentation is received and compliant with QA standards.

Health, Safety & Housekeeping

Strictly follow all Health & Safety, WHMIS, and PPE requirements. Maintain a clean and organized assembly area (minimum 15 minutes per day dedicated cleaning). Monitor consumables and dispose of expired items per safety protocols.

Engineering Support (as applicable)

Assist in the design and development of fixtures, tools, and test setups. Provide feedback for design updates, improvements, and documentation. Support preparation of engineering documents (testing, operation, maintenance).
