Instructor - Tourism & Hospitality Management (with IT Support)

About the Role
Dorset College (Surrey Campus) is seeking a part-time Instructor to teach in our Tourism & Hospitality Management program and provide light IT/technology support for classes and program operations. You'll deliver engaging lessons, assess student learning, and keep course materials and data organized while supporting basic tech needs (LMS, Office 365, website updates, etc.).
What You'll Do
Teach Tourism & Hospitality Management courses (lesson prep, delivery, grading, student feedback).
Align assessments to course outcomes; maintain attendance and grade records.
Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for course materials and data tracking (e.g., gradebooks, attendance, simple dashboards).
Support basic IT tasks for classes: LMS updates (e.g., Moodle/Canvas), setting up Zoom/Teams, classroom AV.
Assist with simple website/web tasks (e.g., updating program pages/content) and data management (file organization, spreadsheets).
Collaborate with program staff to ensure a great student experience.
Qualifications (must meet one of the following)
Bachelor's or Master's in Hospitality Management + ?1 year industry experience in hospitality, OR
Master's in Business/Management/Administration + ?2 years industry experience in hospitality.
Technical & Skills Requirements
Proficient with Excel (sorting/filtering, basic formulas; bonus for VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, PivotTables), Word, PowerPoint.
Comfortable with web/website-related tasks (content updates, basic troubleshooting) and data management (file structures, spreadsheets).
Familiarity with LMS (e.g., Moodle/Canvas) and video conferencing tools (Teams/Zoom).
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Nice to Have
Post-secondary teaching experience.
Knowledge of AHLEI materials or Canadian hospitality standards.
Basic WordPress or similar CMS experience.
Work Hours & Pay
Part-time: ~80-100 hours/month
Rate: $25-$30/hour (commensurate with experience)
Flexible scheduling.
