Position Summary:
Instructor Therapists (IT) provide Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental and behavioural challenges. Autism Behaviour Habilitation Services (ABHS) is committed to providing evidence based, individualized services that meet the needs of each child and family. Services are offered in home (Halton, Peel, Hamilton-Niagara regions) or at The Discovery Centre in Oakville. Our training and mentoring practices provide an enriching and challenging environment that will nurture and advance Instructor Therapists' clinical expertise.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivery of ABA therapy to clients aged to 2-18 with various abilities and challenging behaviours in-home or in centre
Create program materials/stimuli for client(s)
Participate in team meetings
Monitor and flag clients' progress as needed to clinical teams
Data collection and graphing
Travel may be required within the Halton and Peel Region
Requirements:
Behavioural Science certificate or diploma, RBT certification or Undergraduate Degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
Note: Applicants from other academic disciplines may be considered based on education and experience.
Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental or behavioural challenges as an Instructor Therapist (IT)
Strong knowledge and understanding of ASD and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)/ Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI)
Ability to work between 9AM and 5PM with occasional evenings and Saturdays
Commitment to clinical integrity while running energetic, creative, enthusiastic, and fun sessions!
Superior time management and oral/written communication skills
Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
A commitment to professional development
Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Current First-Aid and CPR-C certification
Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months
Valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle
