A Balanced Approach is a team of intelligent, creative and flexible professionals who are passionately driven to help children on the Autism Spectrum to reach their full capacity by creating and implementing innovative programs and services that are individualized and based on best-practice. We use the principles of applied behaviour analysis (ABA) to create individualized programs tailored to the specific needs of each child. We are currently looking for a part-time Instructor Therapist to join our team!
ROLE PROFILE:
To provide appropriate intensive behavioural intervention services to children with autism as outlined by the Clinical Supervisor and the Senior Therapist in a home-based environment. Provide services in client homes in Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge and surrounding areas. RBA supervision opportunities are available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide individual 1:1 therapy in the client's home
To record and monitor data on a daily basis
To maintain written records of the clients' progress during the session
To participate in monthly team meetings
To provide parent training
To prepare teaching materials
SKILLS / ABILITIES / KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of Applied Behavioural Analysis, Verbal Behaviour teaching methodologies, procedures and treatment techniques
Excellent interpersonal skills - client service oriented, skilled in providing empathy, support and critical analysis in complex clinical and sensitive situations
Strong teamwork skills in the areas of mentoring, motivation and creative problem-solving
Proficiency using computers and various
software
and technologies
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, able to be self-directed in a fast-paced, evolving working environment
EXPERIENCE
1-3+ years of recent experience working with autistic children
Clinical experience in behavioural therapy
QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Relevant Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology, Child & Youth Studies or related field
Certificate of Autism and Behavioural Science
One to three years early intensive behavioural intervention experience
Proven attendance record.
Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for children and families within a challenging and exciting environment
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training
Candidate must have a valid Ontario Drivers License, a vehicle and be willing to travel to the client's home
