About the Role


We are seeking a

dedicated and compassionate Instructor Therapist / Educational Assistant

to support children, youth, and young adults with

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

and

developmental disabilities

in our inclusive learning and life-skills programs.

This role combines

educational and behavioural responsibilities

, offering the opportunity to work closely with a

Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA/BCBA)

to implement

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

strategies while supporting academic, social, and life-skill development.

The ideal candidate is patient, creative, and passionate about helping individuals achieve their fullest potential in a structured, nurturing environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities



Assist teachers in implementing

Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

and behaviour strategies. Support students with daily classroom activities, including academic tasks and social participation. Provide

1:1 or small-group instruction

to reinforce learning, assignments, and skill retention under teacher or supervisor guidance. Use specialized techniques such as

sign language, PECS, visual supports, and token systems

to assist students with communication needs. Collect and document

data on student progress and behaviour

for ongoing assessment. Communicate progress and concerns effectively to teachers, and therapists. Supervise and engage students during

yoga, physical education, outdoor activities, and field trips

. Support the use of classroom and therapy tools, including

projectors, tablets, and adaptive devices

. Assist with

daily living skills

(e.g., toileting, hygiene routines) as required. Monitor and support students during

lunch, recess, and transitions

. Collaborate with the team to maintain a

safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

. Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the success of the program.

Skills and Qualifications



Bachelor's Degree

in Psychology, Special Education, Behavioural Science, or a related field (required).

1-2 years of experience

working with individuals with ASD or developmental disabilities. Knowledge of

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

principles and inclusive education strategies. Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and families. Ability to

collect, organize, and analyze data

accurately for reports and treatment monitoring.

Patience, empathy, and professionalism

when supporting individuals with diverse needs. Ability to

adapt quickly

to changing environments and provide flexible support. Valid

Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening

(required).

Assets (preferred):

First Aid & CPR certification Knowledge of sign language, PECS, or assistive communication tools Familiarity with educational or pediatric research methods
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.60-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 15 per week

Work Location: In person
