Instructor, Sheet Metal (Term Full-Time)

Mechanical Trades

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated April 1, 2025 up to March 31, 2026)

SALARY: $63,375 - $96,946 per annum•

• The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Chair, Mechanical Trades, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor for the Sheet Metal Apprenticeship program (all levels). Responsibilities include classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Examples of subject areas are trade safety awareness, sheet metal tools and equipment, pattern development, fabrication, duct system design, metal roofing and architectural metal, installation, chimneys, breeching and venting, specialty products, maintenance and repair, thermal installation, lagging, cladding and flashing, leak testing air balancing and commissioning. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Red Seal certificate in Sheet Metal
• Relevant industry experience in Sheet Metal
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Ability to teach on campus and remotely
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
• Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
• Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
• Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
• Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
• Red Seal Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
• This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
• Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the
• Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
• May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
